The identity of the city’s 6th homicide victim is being withheld as Vancouver Police try to reach family members living out of town in an effort to complete next of kin notifications. The woman, who was in her 30s, was found murdered in a third floor suite in the 7400 block of Fraser Street on the evening of June 10.

Based on the investigation to date, VPD homicide investigators do not believe there is a risk to public safety

Background:

Vancouver has recorded it’s sixth homicide of 2011 after the body of a woman in her 30s was discovered in an apartment in the 7400 block of Fraser Street on June 10th.

Shortly after 7:30 pm, a caller to 9-1-1 reported that a woman was deceased inside a third floor apartment. VPD Homicide investigators were called to the scene and have since determined that the woman met with foul play.

The suite has been cordoned off and a canvass of the building has been undertaken to help locate any possible witnesses.

An autopsy will be required to determine the cause of death however there were obvious signs of trauma on the body.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until next of kin are notified.
