Woman charged in Winnipeg fire murder

As previously released, on July 16th, 2011 at approximately 2:00 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a working fire at a residence located in the 200 block of Austin Street North.

The investigation has revealed that the building had been occupied by eight individuals prior to the fire taking place. A female suspect was observed attending to the front porch area, and while using an unknown accelerant, ignited the residence. The suspect subsequently fled the area.

As a result of the fire, two adult females fled from the building. Six occupants remained inside. Three males and one female have succumbed to injuries sustained. Two adult males remain in hospital in critical condition.

The names of the deceased are not being released pending the completion of all family notifications.

The investigation continued by members of the Homicide Unit.

On July 16th, 2011 at approximately 4:00 p.m., the suspect was located in the area of the 800 block of Main Street and taken into custody.

Lulonda Lynn FLETT, 40 years has been charged with: 2nd Degree Murder x 4 and Attempt Murder x 4 as a result of her alleged involvement.

She has been detained.
