A violent home invasion on Saturday ended with one male being taken to hospital with serious life threatening injuries.

Shortly before 6 PM on Saturday July 16th two males went to a home located in 100 block of Giggleswick Place. Inside was a 30 year old male who knew the two males at his door. He let them in and then was allegedly attacked and assaulted by the two for upwards of 30 minutes. The victim later told police he was thrown down a flight of stairs, beaten with a metal object, then punched and kicked repeatedly.

The two attackers then left after taking some money. Police were called but only after some time had elapsed. The victim later told police his attackers threatened him with death if he spoke to the police. The victim was taken to hospital where he remained overnight. He was treated for a collapsed lung, broken ribs and various cuts that required stitches. He is was released Sunday morning but has since returned to hospital for further treatment.

“This violent attack apparently took place over an allegation that a ring may have been lost or stolen at the victims home the night before and the two males who reportedly assaulted the victim were there to retrieve it,” said Constable Gary O’Brien, media spokesperson for the Nanaimo RCMP.

On Sunday afternoon at approximately 4 PM, Lloyd Thomas 28 and James ELSE 25, both of Nanaimo turned themselves into the Nanaimo RCMP Detachment. They were held in custody and early this morning were formally charged with Aggravated Assault, Uttering threats and Robbery. Both were later released from custody and issued with a court date of July 26th,2011.
