Elderly man killed, child survives in Toronto traffic fatality

On Sunday, July 24, 2011, at 1:49 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision in the Lawrence Avenue East/Overture Road area.

It is reported that:

– a 66-year-old man was driving a Subara Forester with his passenger, a three-year-old girl, eastbound on Lawrence Avenue East,

– the driver lost control of his vehicle due to a medical condition,

– the vehicle then struck a TTC bus, which was stopped on Lawrence Avenue East, heading in the opposite direction.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The three-year-old girl was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
