On July 25, 2011, at around 11 p.m., members of the District 8 Acadian Peninsula RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision that occurred in the Pointe-Alexandre area, of New Brunswick.

A woman was trapped under the car and had to be removed by police. The woman was transported to hospital in Moncton, where she remains in critical condition.

A 55-year-old man from the Inkerman area was arrested.

On July 26, 2011, Laurent Roussel appeared in Tracadie-Sheila Provincial Court to face charges of assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats. The judge has ordered him to undergo a 30-day psychiatric assessment.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are anticipated.
