An officer assigned to the East Quick Response Unit was assaulted with a knife while executing a search warrant this morning in Dartmouth.

At 1:30 a.m., officers from the East Quick Response Unit executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 100 block of Pinecrest Drive. When the officers entered the apartment, a man pick up a knife and attempted to stab one of the officers. The officer’s bullet-proof vest prevented him from being injured and the man, along with five other people were arrested without any further incident. As a result of this search, a knife, handgun and quantity of marijuana were seized.

Two men aged 20 and 57, as well as a 23-year-old woman, all from Dartmouth, face a variety of weapons related charges as well as one count each drug possession for the purpose of trafficking. The 57-year-old man faces an additional charge of assault with a weapon. The two other people, a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old male youth, both of Dartmouth, also face multiple weapons related charges.
