Police arrest 50 year-old man from Big Bras D’Or area with impaired driving after ATV crash

On August 2nd., 2011 at approximately 3:45 p.m., RCMP Cape Breton Traffic Services along with Victoria County District RCMP responded to a 911 call reporting a single vehicle crash involving an ATV on Old Route#5 in the community of Big Bras D’Or.

The investigation revealed that a 50 year-old male from the Big Bras D’Or area was operating his ATV on Old Route 5 when he lost control of the vehicle and was pinned by the ATV. The male presented signs of being impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested at the scene. The male driver was treated at the scene by EHS.

The male driver is facing charges of impaired driving, refusing the Breathalyzer and breach of probation. Charges under the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act and Nova Scotia Off Highways Act have also been laid.
The male was lodged in the cells at Cape Breton Regional Police Services. He will be appearing in Nova Scotia Provincial Court early in October to enter pleas.
