The Ottawa Police Service is investigating an alleged sexual assault on a young adult female that occurred near Iris Street and the Transitway at approximately 10:00 pm on January 7, 2012. The victim was assaulted by a male suspect and was transported to hospital for treatment.

No further details at this time.

Update: On Saturday January 7th, 2012 at 10:13 pm, Ottawa Police responded to a call for service in relation to a female who had been stabbed near that location. While waiting for the bus on Iris St, the female was approached by an unknown male who led her into the wooded area surrounding the transit station. The male attempted to sexually assault her at knife point, but the female resisted the assailant and she was able to call for help. The female received non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 18-20 yrs old, 5’7”-5’9”, medium build, with brown eyes and dressed in black.
