The Chatham-Kent police would like to inform citizens about an attempted fraud that was recently reported.
Earlier this week, a citizen received a phone call from an unknown man purporting to be from an american finance department. The man requested that the woman provide her driver’s license information so that he could send $3.5 million via a courier service to her residence.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone that you should never provide any personal information to strangers. Should you receive a similar call, attempt to gather as much information as possible from the person. If you have caller ID, record their phone number and report the incident to police.
