Fatal motor vehicle collision leads to the death of woman driver near Monastery

Antigonish RCMP are currently at the scene of a motor vehicle collision in Monastery, NS.

At approximately 6:30 a.m. this morning, RCMP responded to a 911 call of a collision involving a tractor trailer and a passenger car at or near Exit 37 on Highway 104.

A female driver and sole occupant of the passenger car died at the scene of the collision. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

Highway 104 is closed between Exit 38, Havre Boucher exit and Exit 37, Monastery for an undetermined amount of time. Traffic is being to rerouted on Highway # 4. The RCMP request the motoring public to allow extra travel time and use the alternate route.

RCMP and Fire Services remain on scene. A RCMP Traffic analyst has been called to assist and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
