A New Brunswick man has been charged in connection with a sexual assault that occurred in Plaster Rock in October 2011.

On August 31, 2012, 55-year-old Derrick Goodine, currently of Saint-André, appeared in Grand Falls Provincial Court and was charged with break and enter, and sexual assault. Goodine was arrested on August 30, as the result of a lengthy investigation.

On October 11, 2011, members of the District 10 RCMP responded to a break and enter at a home in Plaster Rock. Around 5 a.m., a woman in her 50s awoke to find a man in her bedroom. The man allegedly broke into the home committed a sexual assault against the woman.

Derrick Goodine has been sent for a 30-day psychiatric evaluation, and will appear in court next on October 2, 2012, to enter a plea.
