Liberals are scheduled to implement a plan this Wednesday which will forcefully limit the public sector compensation. Dwight Duncan, Finance Minister of Ontario, is anticipated to provide particulars of this legislation for restricting the salaries of public sector workers in the province for reaching his goal of $15-billion deficit in Ontario budget.

Premier Dalton McGuinty has frequently stated that in the past that Liberals will not hesitate to legislate a wage freeze if they felt the need. He spoke two weeks ago that the government is bearing in mind to introduce a single bill which will enforce comprehensive wage freeze.

President of the Ontario Federation of Labour, Sid Ryan, has declared that he is uniting with the leaders of several other organizations including OPSEU, CUPE and the CAW today to strategize a plan in response to Premier Dalton McGuinty’s action. The all share the belief that McGuinty is “aggressively interfering” in their negotiations which violates the constitutional rights of workers. This meeting will resume the ongoing weeks-long struggle between the teachers and government of Ontario over the passing of Bill 115, which obligated contract terms across the province.

The minority Liberals in the government have already shortened the doctor’s fees in the province and recently angered the teachers with a new anti-strike law which is strictly unpopular among the unions and civil liberties activists. This infamous anti-strike law gives the government exclusive authority to forbid strikes and lockouts for the next coming two years.  Most of the unions have gathered and shared the inception of challenging the legislation together even if they have to go to Supreme Court of Canada.
