Claude Newman: A Miracle on Death Row — Powerful Spiritual Drama
Miles Playhouse (Santa Monica, CA)
Set in 1940s Mississippi, Claude Newman: A Miracle on Death Row was inspired by the events surrounding an African-American prisoner who converted to Christianity after he reportedly and repeatedly received visits to his cell by the Virgin Mary. The appearances were even confirmed by the prison chaplain, Father Robert O’Leary, and are the basis of this spiritual drama, written by Cathal Gallagher and directed by Maria Vargo. The show comes courtesy of the G.K. Chesterton Theatre Company, which also produced Viva Cristo Rey! and Malcolm & Teresa.
