On June 18, 2010 Frederick Hanson, a 61-year-old former pastor in Plaster Rock was sentenced to 16 months in prison for sexual assaults involving minors under the age of 14.

The sentence was handed down after a week long jury trial held in Woodstock Court of Queen’s Bench in May 2010. Frederick Hanson was found guilty of sexual interference and sexual exploitation in relation to incidents involving young girls under the age of 14.

District 10 RCMP investigated the incidents involving Frederick Hanson which involved two victims and happened in the Plaster Rock area between 2006 and 2007.

Judge Terrence J. Morrison sentenced Hanson to 16 months in prison followed by 2 years of probation. He was also ordered to comply with the Sex Offender Registry Act upon his release from custody.
