The Hamilton Police Service is investigating an incident where a shot was fired through the front door at a home in Hamilton’s East End and investigators are asking witnesses to call police.

On Monday, July 12th, 2010 at approximately 10:00 p.m., a witness alerted Hamilton Police of what was believed to be the sound of a shot being fired in the area of Garside Ave. S. and Central Ave.

Hamilton Police responded into the area and spoke to the resident of a home on Garside who reported a shot being fired at his home. The homeowner indicated he answered a knock at the front door and spoke briefly with a male on the front porch. He also believed there were two other males standing on his property. The homeowner ran back inside his house when he started to feel uncomfortable with the questions being asked. It is alleged that as he ran back inside the home a shot was fired through the front door. The shot travelled through the house and became lodged in a wall inside the home. There were five people inside the home at the time but nobody was injured. Hamilton Police did recover a firearm at the scene.

The suspect involved is described as:

• Male
• White
• 20-30 yrs.
• 5’8”
• Thin build
• Shoulder length black hair
• Dark coloured eyes
• Wearing a black hoodie with white designs on the sleeves

The victim was unable to describe the other people on the property.

Hamilton Police do not believe this to be a random incident.
