EPS Homicide Detectives have arrested a woman in connection with the death of a 23-year-old female early Saturday morning. A 19-year-old female of Edmonton was arrested early Sunday morning by patrol members and is facing several charges. She remains in police custody. The name of the accused and charges will be released after the autopsy.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on July 31, 2010, police received a report of an injured woman at 145 Avenue and 52 Street. Investigations later revealed that an altercation between the two women resulted in the victim being stabbed. She died in hospital later that morning. The two women knew each other and detectives believe the altercation began as a dispute over a male friend.

An autopsy is scheduled for the afternoon of Aug. 3.

Investigators continue to search for the weapon, possibly a knife, and are asking residents who live in the area of 145 Avenue and 52 Street to check the perimeter of their home and yard.
