During a court hearing on Wednesday, domestic diva and a TV cook, Nigella Lawson, informed the jury that “acts of terrorism” by her ex-husband, Charles Saatchi, left her with no choice but to do cocaine and use cannabis. Lawson informed the court that she yielded to illegal drug use in 2010, since she felt “ashamed, isolated and in fear” at the time, while confessing to smoking cannabis “with or in front of” her children.

The Isleworth Crown Court in west London heard, according to Lawson, that her husband Saatchi attempted to “destroy” her by making her drug use public and revealed that he was doing so after giving her “threats” to get back with him. She revealed that once that failed, he actually brought the drug allegations in an attempt to “salvage his reputation and savage mine.” The confession was made by Lawson during the fraud trial of two former aides, though she repeatedly stated that she feels like she is the one on trial and the victim of a “witch hunt” since she had spent the entire day in the witness box.

Moreover, Lawson also explained a troubling incident at a restaurant, which led to the end of their marriage, alleging that he grabbed her by the throat when she admired someone’s baby. Lawson alleged that he got furious after she admired another baby and said she is looking forward to being a grandparent, he grabbed her and told her: “I’m the only person who should be giving you pleasure.”
