Gioacchino Volpe of Toronto charged with sexual assault

On Monday, August 30, 2010, police began a sexual assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

– a woman left a subway train and got on an elevator at the Main Street subway station at 2550 Danforth Avenue,

– a man entered the elevator behind the victim and, once alone, the man sexually assaulted the woman,

– the woman got off the elevator, boarded a bus, and the man followed her,

– he then exposed himself to the woman while on the bus,

– the woman got off the bus, and the man followed her and continued to harass her,

– the woman sought assistance from a citizen who confronted the man, who then ran off.

On Thursday, September 9, 2010, at 9:05 a.m., Gioacchino Volpe, 49, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1. Sexual Assault,
2. Criminal Harassment.

He is scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Friday, September 10, 2010, at 10 a.m., in courtroom 507.
