As previously released, on August 26th, 2010 at approximately 4:30 a.m., Uniform officers were dispatched to a convenience store located in the area of the 400 block of Edison Avenue regarding a distress alarm.
Attending members learned that a lone male entered the store armed with what appeared to be an extendable rod. The suspect proceeded behind the counter and began threatening the clerk with the weapon before grabbing a quantity of cigarettes. The suspect was observed to flee the area on foot.
As a result of an investigation by members of the Major Crimes Unit, Byron LOPEZ-MONTES, 19 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Robbery with a Weapon.
LOPEZ-MONTES has been detained in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
