83 yr. old Stoney Creek man dies in a vehicle crash in Hamilton

An 83 yr. old Stoney Creek man succumbs to injuries from a collision that happened late last week and becomes the City’s 15th traffic fatality.

On Friday, September 3rd, 2010 at approximately 10:45 a.m., a Ford Taurus was westbound on Highway 8 at Green Road, Stoney Creek. The 83 year old male driver lost control of his vehicle and struck a hydro pole on the north side of Highway 8. The male and his 64 year old female passenger were injured from the collision and taken to hospital by ambulance. The female was treated and released. The male remained in hospital for observation.

The Hamilton Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit attended the scene to investigate. It was determined that the male suffered a medical condition while driving and became unconscious. The male had no known medical history that was cause for concern.

No other persons were involved in this incident and property damage was limited to the driver’s vehicle.

On September 6th, 2010, the 83 yr. old Stoney Creek man passed away as a result of injuries received during the collision. The family has asked for privacy and do not wish the identity of the deceased released to the media.
