In June 2013, the Winnipeg Police Service Professional Standards Unit began a criminal investigation into the conduct of a Winnipeg Police Service member.

Following a lengthy investigation, and in consultation with Manitoba Justice, criminal charges have been laid against a member of the Winnipeg Police Service.

Constable Remi Van Den Driessche, 39 years, an eight year member, has been charged with Sexual Assault, Breach of Trust x2, Extortion x2, and Criminal Harassment x4.  The allegations involve on and off duty conduct.

He was released on a Promise to Appear and is presently on administrative leave pending a review to determine his employment status.
