Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 6400 Calhoun about 3:55 p.m. on Saturday (August 16).

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer O. Bledsoe reported:

The victim was driving a stolen maroon Ford Focus at a high rate of speed southbound on Calhoun. He apparently lost control of the vehicle in the 6400 block of Calhoun, causing the Ford to go into a wooded area and catch fire. The driver died at the scene. Two passengers were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Further investigation determined the vehicle was used in a robbery just before the traffic accident.
