53 year old woman killed during violent home invasion in Markham

The York Regional Police Homicide Unit is seeking public assistance in identifying and apprehending three suspects wanted in connection with a homicide following a violent home invasion in the Town of Markham.

On Monday, November 8, 2010, at approximately 10:30 p.m., York Regional Police responded to a residence on Helen Avenue after receiving a 9-1-1 call reporting a home invasion.
Upon arrival, police discovered a 53-year-old female with obvious signs of trauma who succumbed to her injuries in the residence. A 57-year-old male was also discovered in the residence, along with a 24-yearold female. Both of these victims were transported to hospital.

The 57-year-old male victim remains in hospital in serious condition with non-life-threatening injuries. The 24-year-old female victim was not injured.

The suspects are described as:

SUSPECT #1:

• Male, black, 28 to 33 years
• 5’6” to 5’7”, medium build
• Long dreadlocks
• Dark clothing

SUSPECT #2:

• Male, black, 31 years
• 5’7” to 5’8”, thin build
• Bandanna covered his face
• Wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt

SUSPECT #3:

• Male, thin build, spoke with Caribbean accent

It is not known at this time how entry was made into the residence, nor the motive for this violent crime.

The investigation is in the early stages and police are asking for anyone who might have been in the area at this time contact investigators.
