Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau are currently investigating Peel Region’s fifth homicide of 2014.

On Saturday, October 11, 2014, at approximately 6:38 p.m., Peel Regional Police, EMS and Mississauga Fire attended the Quality Inn, located at 50 Britannia Road East, Mississauga, for a report of a fire.  Upon arrival, emergency personnel located a female without vital signs inside one of the rooms.  The Victim was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The victim has been identified as Evelyn Bumatay Castillo, a 43 year-old resident of Thornhill.

The continuing investigation and post mortem results have revealed that Castillo died as a result of foul play.  The investigation is now being led by the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau, who have been involved from the outset.
