Brad Mueller, the suspect is known to police and was arrested by members of an emergency-response team with use of police helicopters and dogs.

The officer shot, Michaud, has been in service for 13 years’ and is a father of two young children. According to Mueller, Michaud is still in critical but stable condition. Mueller stressed that “the events are, you know, a sobering reminder of the dangers that police officers face every day while they are serving and protecting their respective communities, and I can’t tell you the impact that an incident (like this) has on our policing community.” Mueller stated that he couldn’t reveal the name of the suspect but confirmed that he has not yet been charged.

In addition to that, Mueller disclosed that the suspect received an injury during the arrest and hence the RCMP has contacted the police watchdog, Independent Investigations Office of B.C., i.e. the police watchdog warranted to investigate serious incidents involving British Columbia’s police officers. Whereas, Independent Investigations Office also officially confirmed in the evening that it will be investigating because it has “confirmation of a serious injury to the affected person.” The police officer was shot at around 2:45 a.m., when he pulled over a white, four-door Chrysler Intrepid in a residential area of the city, while another officer who had come as a backup for Michaud exchanged gunfire.
