On December 6th, 2010, at approximately 10:20 p.m. the Winnipeg Police Service received a call to a residence within the 700 block of McGee Street for an intoxicated and disorderly male who was refusing to leave.

At approximately 10:25 p.m., Officers attended and met with a male who was subsequently detained under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.

Upon being placed into the rear of the cruiser car, the suspect male began to kick at the door and as Officers attempted to restrain him, he allegedly swung his fist, grazing the chin of a 41 year old male officer. This male continued to yell threatening comments to the male officer as well as towards his 30 year old female partner.

As a result of the suspect’s aggressive actions towards officers and to effectively handcuff the male and electronic control device was deployed.

Winnipeg Paramedics attended, and this suspect male continued his aggressive behaviour towards Officers as well as Paramedics during the incident, and allegedly assaulted the female officer in the lower body.

Neither officer required medical attention.

Raymond Paul CATCHEWAY, 33 years, of Winnipeg has been charged with:

He remains in custody.
