On December 20, 2010 at approx. 9:55 hours a 55 year old male was operating a 2006 Sterling gravel truck with a pup trailer east bound on Sunridge Way N.E. going through the intersection with 32 Street N.E. Just as he was clearing the intersection he veered off into the westbound lanes of Sunridge Way.

The truck and trailer then proceeded off onto the north median still traveling in a northeasterly direction. The truck and trailer drove over a light standard which was located on the boulevard. The combination then went over a large advertising sign with a cement base. The entire unit then came to rest with the trailer wheels up against the cement base.

The operator of the vehicle was likely suffering from a medical condition prior to this collision taking place. The operator was pronounced deceased a short time later at the Peter Lougheed Medical Center. No other vehicles or pedestrians were involved in this collision.

Members of the Calgary Police Service, Traffic Response Unit 2 continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
