Murder charges laid the 2009 killing of Wayne Roger Michelle, Winnipeg

As previously released, on June 13th, 2009 at approximately 10:35 p.m., police had been called to the area of the 500 block of Manitoba Avenue regarding two males that had been shot.

Upon arrival, two males were located suffering from gunshot wounds to the mid-sections of their bodies. A 27 year old male victim had been conveyed to hospital in stable condition and a 28 year old male victim, identified as Wayne Roger MICHELLE, had been conveyed in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation has revealed that the two victims were walking in the area when they were approached by the suspects and a firearm was discharged, striking both victims.

As a result of the continued investigation by Members of the Homicide Unit two males alleged to be responsible have been arrested.

William Evan LAPORTE, 21 years and an 18 year old male, who was a youth at the time of the offence, have been charged with 1st degree Murder and Attempt Murder with a Weapon.

Both males have been detained.
