The Edmonton Police Service has charged a man after he allegedly took off in a car with one its passengers still inside on Sunday night.

EPS Northeast Patrol Officers responded to a call from a man who said that his car was stolen with his wife still inside it after he had stopped to use a bank machine around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2011. The man went into the bank at 42 Street and 118 Avenue while his wife waited inside the idling car. Another man jumped into the car and drove off with the woman still inside, but became involved in a two-vehicle collision at 46 Street and 118 Avenue. The man fled the scene and was arrested shortly after with the assistance of an EPS Service Dog. There were no reported injuries.

Clinton/William Wharry, 36, has been charged with kidnapping, theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, criminal hit and run, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and breach of probation.
