Members of District 6 RCMP have arrested a youth in connection with internet-based threats that were made earlier this week against staff of Blackville School.

RCMP were made aware of the threats on a social networking site by school administrators on Sunday, February 20, 2011, and an investigation was launched.

A 15-year-old male student of the school has been arrested in connection with the incident and criminal charges are anticipated.

"This was a very serious criminal matter and tied up significant police resources for several days, costing thousands of dollars," said Staff Sergeant Greg Grant, Commander of District 6 RCMP. "The incident also created a lot of undue concern and anxiety for students, parents and the community."

The investigation is ongoing.
