On February 23rd at approximately 9:30 PM, Prince George RCMP General Duty members responded to a call from CN Rail of a collision between a train and a vehicle on Tallus Road near Highway 97, north of Prince George.

The vehicle, a Volkswagen Jetta driven by a 57 year old Summit Lake man, became stuck in the ruts on the tracks. The driver saw the train coming, exited the vehicle and made his way to a safe location. No one was injured in this collision. There was no apparent damage to the locomotive, however the vehicle suffered significant damage.

The RCMP would like to remind the traveling public to be extra cautious around rail road tracks at this time of year. There may be build up of ice and snow that may make the tracks more difficult to cross.
