Colin Murray Baron arrested for 2008 sexual attack, Winnipeg

Previously released, on January 1, 2008, a nineteen year old female was walking in the area of Mountain Avenue and McGregor Street where she was confronted by an unknown male.

The male physically assaulted and committed a serious sexual assault against the victim who managed to break free and was assisted by a passing motorist. She required medical attention for her injuries sustained during the assault.

The investigation continued and a DNA profile was obtained from the victim’s property, however a suspect was not identified at that time.

In February 2011, members of the Winnipeg Police Service were notified of forensic evidence linking a suspect in this incident.

On March 4, 2011, members of the Sex Crimes Unit arrested Colin Murray Baron, 34 years at a residence in the North End area of Winnipeg as a result of his alleged involvement. He has been charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault and Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm.

He was detained.
