Kimberley RCMP have now confirmed the identity of the female body that was found along the St. Mary’s Forest Service Road on Sunday, March 6th.

49-year-old Carol Ann McPHAIL was located by the Kimberley Search and Rescue team approximately 6 km south of St. Mary’s Lake. McPHAIL had not been heard from since February 28th, and was reported missing to the Kimberley RCMP on March 3rd.

Police were able to trace McPHAIL’s movements to the Forest Service Road, which narrowed the scope of the search considerably.

At the present time, the cause of death is unknown. A forensic autopsy is scheduled for March 10th and police hope to learn more at that time.

Currently, the police are still making enquiries to determine why McPHAIL was in that area.
