Oshawa PowerThe Oshawa Power is excited to announce that they have signed Canadian, Denham Brown to a contract.
“We are very pleased about the signing of Denham Brown. For many years Denham has been a role model to younger players around the country. Denham will provide leadership and experience to our team and be a great example for youth in our community,” said Gary Durrant, President of Basketball Operations.
 
The 6’5” shooting guard and former University of Connecticut Huskie is coming off a stint with the Canadian Senior Men’s National Team (SMNT) in Mar Del Plata, Argentina where he averaged 6.6 ppg in the FIBA Americas Championship for Men/Olympic Qualifying Tournament. While at Connecticut, Brown, a Toronto native, won an NCAA Championship as a sophomore playing for legendary coach Jim Calhoun.
 
Denham BrownBrown attended the Power’s first day of pre-training camp on Monday at the Premier Fitness in Oshawa and has played professionally for 6 years. In 2010-11 he applied his trade in the Ukraine Super League for BC Dnipro where he averaged 13.4ppg, 5.8rpg and 3apg. In previous years, he has also played for the Barangay Ginebra Kings in the Phillipines, the Iowa Energy and Dakota Wizards of the NBA Development League, Tisettanta Cantu in Italy and Turkey’s Galatasaray. Brown was drafted 40th overall in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Seattle Supersonics and played briefly for the NBA Development League’s Tulsa 66ers.
 
In high school, Brown gained notoriety by once scoring 111 points in a high school game while playing for West Hill Collegiate in Scarborough, Ontario.
“Denham has had an accomplished career at all levels and has represented Canada since 2003 and has also played in some of the best leagues around the world,” comments Durrant.
 
Brown and the other pre-training camp participants will be available for questions and one-on-one interviews this Thursday, October 13 at the Oshawa Power Media Day.
 
The Oshawa Power have a home preseason game on October 27, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. against the London Lightning and will play their first home regular season game of the season on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at the General Motors Centre, where they will tip off against the Moncton Miracles at 7:30 p.m.
