San Diego State beats top overall seed Alabama

In the NCAA tournament on Friday night, No.1 seed Alabama, which was the most dominant and divisive team of the 2022-23 season, lost to No. 5 seed San Diego State by a score of 71-64. Alabama’s offensive struggles led to 14 turnovers and a 3-for-27 performance from 3-point range.

San Diego State, led by Darrion Trammell’s 21 points, clinched their first-ever berth in the Elite Eight by suffocating Alabama’s offense and holding them to 32.4% shooting. Alabama star forward Brandon Miller shot only 3-for-19 in the game and a combined 8-for-41 in the three games of the tournament. This loss marks the third consecutive tournament in which the Tide suffered a significant upset.

Although Alabama appeared to be in control of the game early in the second half, it could not sustain it, and San Diego State pulled off the upset.
