Throw on your bellbottoms and do the hustle down to Rogers Centre this Saturday, August 14 as the Toronto Argonauts, featuring Head Coach Jim Barker and his cardiac kids, take on the Montreal Alouettes in a battle to dominate the East. The 2010 Argos have shown a will-not-quit tenacity and have fought hard to the final whistle, earning a 4-2 record. Cleo Lemon led the offence, including CFL rushing leader Cory Boyd, to a final moment victory in Edmonton and the team is looking to tie the Als for first in the East as the team has yet to lose a home game this season.

Presented by Tim Hortons, Saturday’s game will feature a stroll down memory lane to the 1970s, complete with retro uniforms, music and costumes. The alumni welcome will feature Argos great Mike Eben, a two-time East all-star at receiver who led in the Double Blue in the 1970s. The anthem will be performed by Grammy and Juno Award winner Dan Hill.

The August 14 game kicks off Football Week in Toronto, a collaboration between the Toronto Argonauts, the Bills Toronto Series and Football Canada from Saturday, August 14 – Friday, August 20. Football Week in Toronto is a series of events aimed to raise awareness for and promote participation in minor football in the Greater Toronto Area. The first 5000 fans in attendance will receive rally towels and former Buffalo Bills and Argos kicker Steve Christie will handle kickoff duties.

With continuing support of both youth and football initiatives, the Double Blue is proud to feature a halftime scrimmage between the York Simcoe Young Bucs and the Metro Toronto Grizzlies of North York and a special ‘70s performance from the Argos Jr. Cheer squad. The 50/50 will benefit Toronto Youth Development, to help support a healthy and safe community for children and youth. Fans who arrive early should head to Gate 11 for the Community Crew BBQ. Marc Angelo will grill up sausages with all of the proceeds benefitting the programs of The Argos Foundation.

Following the game, fans can come down onto the field after the final whistle blows for the popular See You On The Field autograph session. Supporters are also invited to head over to the Official Post-Game Party at Jack Astor’s, 144 Front Street West, to say hi to some of your favourite Argos players and the 2010 Argos Cheerleaders, presented by the Toronto Sun. The party will also feature a Budweiser special.

Montreal may be sitting pretty but the 2010 Argos are always gritty. Jim Barker encouraged Toronto fans to come to the stadium to see this determined squad full of heart, “Our home crowd truly makes all the difference – we coach and play this game for them. We need our 13th man to come out on Saturday night and cheer their hearts out as our players play their hearts out to deliver another win to this city.”
