Indian team will look to build up on their 1-0 lead when they face Sri Lanka in the second One-day International on Tuesday at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Hambantota.
Despite gaining a huge series win against another top cricketing team, Pakistan; Sri Lanka had failed to to tackle very dangerous Indian batsmen like Virendra Sehwag and Virat Kohli. Their lack of plan to tackle Kohli may cost them heavily in the up-coming matches.
The hosts would also look to square the series by winning the 2nd match against tourists. Sri Lankan batting was clearly dependent upon the performance of Kumar Sangakkara, as was evident from their last match. Sangakkara batted brilliantly through the inning and scred 133 from 151 deliveries but still had to face the loss due to lack of support from the other end. The Sri Lankan squad may include: Mahela Jayawardene (capt), Angelo Mathews (vice-capt), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara, Upul Tharanga, Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Thisara Perera, Lahiru Thirimanne, Lasith Malinga, Chamara Kapugedera, Rangana Herath, Sachithra Senanayake, Jeevan Mendis, Isuru Udana.
Riding on Virat Kohli’s 12th ODI century and Virender Sehwag’s 96, Indian team defeated Sri Lanka in the first match by 21 runs despite Kumar Sangakkara’s slamming a ton. The bowlers also performed well led by all-rounder Irfan Pathan. India will be on the advantageous side as Sri Lanka’s most consistent new-ball bowler in recent times, Nuwan Kulasekara is out of the series dua to a groin injury sustained while trying to attempt a catch during the first ODI. All eyes will again be on man-of-the-moment Kohli who has now scored four centuries in his last five appearances and is in the superb form. The Team India may include: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli (vice-captain), Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Zaheer Khan, Umesh Yadav, Pragyan Ojha, Ajinkya Rahane, Manoj Tiwary, Rahul Sharma, Ashok Dinda.
