After a frustrating washout in Cardiff, England and South Africa will face each other once again in Southampton for the second one-day international of the five-match series, but more rain is forecast, which could mean yet another frustrating day for the two teams who are tussling for the number one spot in the ODI rankings. South Africa needs to steal the series to go to the top, but as the weather goes in England, things are not looking to support the play.
Rain is forecasted to be certain to interrupt the match at some point, and South African skipper AB de Villiers admitted that the Cardiff washout was a disappointment. The probable South African team line-up may include: Graeme Smith, Hashim Amla, Dean Elgar, AB de Villiers (capt & wk), JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Ryan McLaren, Wayne Parnell, Robin Peterson, Morne Morkel, Lonwabo Tsotsobe.
If South Africa wins at The Rose Bowl, they will be ranked as No.1 ranked team across all 3 formats. England would try their best to retain their status as the best ODI side and for that they need to win this series desperately, not only to boost their morale but to show the world that they can win without the flamboyant Pietersen. The two teams have never encountered each other in Southampton. The probable English squad may include: Alastair Cook (capt), Ian Bell, Jonathan Trott, Ravi Bopara, Eoin Morgan, Craig Kieswetter (wk), Tim Bresnan, Chris Woakes, Graeme Swann, James Anderson, Steven Finn.
