The 1^st day of the 1^st test match has been dominated by the Windies after they won the toss and elected to bat at Shere Bangla stadium. Chris Gayle opened the match enthusiastically as he smashed the six on the very first ball of the match against Sohag Gazi – the first offspinner in Test history to bowl the first over of a Test match on debut, and the first debutant spinner to do so in 103 years. However, after playing aggressively and making 24 on just 17 balls, Gayle got out in the 5^th over by Gazi.

Despite the best efforts from hosts, West Indies scored 361-4 on the first day and are poised for a big total. After Gazi added that of Darren Bravo and Shahadat Hossain accounted for Marlon Samuels, both Kieran Powell and Shivnarine Chanderpaul scored centuries. Afterwards, Gazi bowled out Powell at 117. Ramdin came and powered the West Indies total by contributing an unbeaten half-century.

On 2^nd day, Chanderpaul will continue from 123 and Ramdin from 52. The hosts need to apply some more solid ideas to turn the game into their favor.
