Messi’s Future Club Yet Unknown

Lionel Messi, the 35-year-old football superstar, has decided to leave Paris Saint-Germain after a brief stint and will be playing for a new club in Saudi Arabia in the upcoming season. The French news agency AFP reported this news. As of now, the details of his new club in Saudi Arabia remain unknown. He was under contract with PSG until June 2022.

Potential Club: Al-Hilal

Many sources claim that Al-Hilal, which currently ranks fourth in the Saudi Arabian championship, is a potential candidate for Messi’s new club. This move is reportedly backed by the Public Investment Fund, which will provide funding for the transfer and the player’s wages.

Messi Follows Ronaldo to Saudi Arabia

Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi’s arch-rival, also relocated to Saudi Arabia earlier this year to play for Al-Nassr. Ronaldo, who is five-time FIFA Player of the Year, signed a multi-year deal worth €70 million annually in wages, which could go up to €200 million per year through commercial agreements.

Public Investment Fund was also involved in Ronaldo’s transfer to Saudi Arabia. Messi’s transfer, however, has not yet been officially confirmed by his new club or any other parties involved.

Supporters Against Messi

Messi has had mixed performances since joining PSG in 2021, which has caused a rift among the club’s supporters. Some fans feel that certain players, including Messi, have not fully committed to the club. As a result, many PSG supporters are now criticizing “parasitic” players and demand that they step up or leave the club.

Messi Wins Laureus Award 2022

On a different note, Messi was awarded the prestigious Laureus Award for Sportsman of the Year 2022. He was also recognized for his role as captain of Argentina’s national football team, which was named Sports Team of the Year. These awards were presented to Messi at a ceremony held in Paris on Monday evening.
