Ignatieff touring the Island with inane statements for the media

Liberal leader and wannabe Prime Minister Ignatieff shows all finesse of the proverbial bull in the china shop during his “bus tour” of PEI.

He was quoted on CBC radio as saying all Islanders want is some fresh lobster and mussels this summer when asked about our views on the coming election. Where does he get that from, did extensive polling tell him Islanders just want a feed of lobsters?  Sounds like “just fix up a mess of friend chicken and watermelon” to me. He is a condescending person even up close.
Even weirder is his statement that Liberals would make a better MP from Egmont than Gail Shea. First he’s insulting an Islander who has brought a lot of money to PEI since she got elected.

Second, it was Liberal Premier Robert Ghiz who handed Shea her win in the riding by sticking the knife on the Liberal candidates back during the election.
Ghiz has Treasurer Wes Sheridan run up to Summerside and tell good citizens up there they weren’t going to get the racetrack upgraded. That allowed conservatives Gail Shea and Prime Minister Harper to show up within 2 weeks announcing the Conservatives would pay for the upgrade.
Liberal Keith Milligan could have seen the sabotage coming since he was once a candidate for Ghiz’ job and the Premier likes to dead head his enemies.
Milligan only lost the election by 62 votes, about the number of people in the horse racing business in Summerside.
Ignatieff should be doing his homework before he comes to the regions with his awesome intelligence and wisdom. We’ve seen his kind before.
Canadian politics is the land of the dead. Stephen Harper keeps killing his chances of a majority by showing his right wing colors on a bi-weekly basis. The cancellation of the long-form census is just the latest in a long line of gaffe’s from Harper that turns off moderate Canadians.
Ignatieff, well we just can’t warm up to the guy. He’s just not one of us. Maybe if we were electing  king or something like that.
Jack Layton is like the guy on the hockey team who just can’t score the goal. At a time in Canada’s history when people are concerned about social problems like unemployment and health care, he hasn’t got a coherent message going that people can adopt.

  1. Hi Steve,
Just thought I would point out your error re the census. The long-form census has NOT been “cancelled” –where do you get that from? What has been cancelled is the threats of fines and jail time if you do not fill all 36 pages of it out. The short form census is still mandatory as it always has been.
Stats Can is whining largely because they made a significant profit selling this personal data about Canadians to various businesses and special interest groups. It’s about the money, Steve.
