Called "theatrical magic" by The New York Times, War Horse is the visually and emotionally spectacular winner of five 2011 Tony Awards® including Best Play, and was also adapted into a Steven Spielberg film, vying for Best Picture at this year’s Academy Awards®. This original National Theatre of Great Britain production, which premiered to critical and popular acclaim in London, now arrives exclusively at the Ahmanson. The show tells the epic story of Joey, a horse who’s sold into the cavalry in World War I, and the young man whose connection with this beloved animal spurs him on a treacherous journey to find him and bring him back from enemy lines. The incredibly life-like puppets that portray Joey and the other equines on stage will take your breath away, and were created by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, awarded an honorary Tony Award® for its work.
