Once on This Island: Calypso Retelling of The Little Mermaid

El Camino College Center for the Arts–Marsee Auditorium (Torrance, CA)

In this Tony-award nominated retelling of The Little Mermaid, the peasant girl Ti Moune rescues and falls in love with the wealthy Daniel from the other side of the island, but she must undergo a test from the island gods to determine whether her love is true. The Carribean-inspired score is by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, the team behind the hit musicals Ragtime and Seussical. A great show for the entire family, this highly original and theatrical production garnered eight Tony nominations for its Broadway run, including Best Musical, Book and Score. Learn more…
