In this Tony-award nominated retelling of The Little Mermaid, the peasant girl Ti Moune rescues and falls in love with the wealthy Daniel from the other side of the island, but she must undergo a test from the island gods to determine whether her love is true. The Carribean-inspired score is by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, the team behind the hit musicals Ragtime and Seussical.
