Secret Rose Theatre presents Douglas Carter Beane’s The Little Dog Laughed, a hilarious examination into the scandalous world of celebrities and the challenges of being gay in Hollywood. A hot, young rising movie star is pulled in all directions by his spin-doctor agent who’s determined to keep his homosexuality in the closet; meanwhile, there’s the sexy hustler who has caught his eye (and more) and the hustler’s naïve and needy girlfriend — not to mention the photographers who track their every move. In its off-Broadway run, The Little Dog Laughed was nominated for the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding New York Theatre; upon moving to Broadway, it earned a Tony nomination for Best Play.
