As a post-Halloween treat, the El Portal Theatre performs Mictlantecuhtli: God of the Underworld, a gripping supernatural drama from writer-director Luis Avalos. At a museum’s exhibition of pre-Columbian art, an aficionado discovers a mysterious statue. He is mesmerized by the figure’s unearthly beauty and strength. Before he even knows what’s happening, he is transported to the underworld where he is confronted by Mictlantecuhtli, the Aztec god of the dead. The play stars Leo Vargas, Marabina James, Roberto Enrique and John Olvera.
