They finally catch up with him when a hellish supernatural force shows up to claim revenge. All this is balanced by a playful sense of humor. The balanced combination of sensuality, horror and comedy has led many to declare this the greatest opera ever composed. The San Francisco Opera production features extraordinary Polish baritone Mariusz Kwiecien in the title role. Maestro Donald Runnicles leads the world renowned San Francisco Opera Orchestra and Chorus. The opera is sung in Italian with English subtitles.
