A favorite from the famed Russian National Ballet Theatre’s repertoire, Sleeping Beauty has all the hallmarks of a great classical dance — a lavish theatrical and costumed setting, a fairy tale featuring actual fairies both good and bad, as well as a beautiful princess and heroic prince, and a sumptuous score by Tchaikovsky. Plus, this troupe of tremendously gifted dancers, led by artistic director and former Bolshoi principal dancer Elena Radchenko, can be counted on to perform Marcus Petipa’s legendary choreography to full effect — including its trademark daring leaps, soaring lifts and sharp, spinning turns.
