The Attic Theatre and Film Center (Los Angeles, CA)
Chromolume Theatre presents the world premiere of veteran songwriter Steven Cagan’s new musical, Love Songs. This is a labor of love from Cagan, who was the musical director for the first national tour of Dreamgirls and has worked as a composer, arranger and conductor for some of the great performers of our time, including Melissa Manchester, Bette Midler, Diahann Carroll, and Georgia Brown. The result is a return to classic musical theater form, featuring infectious melodies, simple storytelling and lots of heart. The story follows three couples, each illustrating different kinds of relationships. Jeremy is stuck out of town on a business trip, trying frantically to get back in time for his nuptials, while his bride-to-be, Gaby, waits anxiously for him to return. Sarah, who has been engaged to Ben for six years, is weary of his failure to commit to her, while he dreams of a kind of love that does not really exist. Roy and Rose, lovers for many years, just enjoy themselves. Their stories have a timeless appeal, filled with heartfelt music, joyful laughter and characters you will really care about.
