Film buffs may have their sights set on the Toronto International Film Festival, but before TIFF takes over Toronto there is an opportunity for movie lovers to get a first hand look at the amazing filmmakers of tomorrow as they make their big screen debut at the Toronto Film School’s annual Festival of Films.

A selection of newly minted filmmakers, actors and writers from the Toronto Film School will have their work on the silver screen for the first time at the annual Toronto Film School Festival of Films on Aug. 28 at the Cineplex Odeon VIP Theaters at Yonge and Dundas in the heart of downtown Toronto.

“This festival is the first big chance our students have to be seen,” said Rick Bennett, Chair of Toronto Film School. “On a broader scope this festival is a promotion of the Canadian film industry itself. These are the filmmakers of tomorrow.”

The festival begins at noon on Aug. 28 and features about 40 screenings of impressive, student made short films averaging about 10 minutes each. That evening, beginning at 7 p.m. there is red carpet awards ceremony where about a dozen awards are handed out for accolades like best director, best film, best actor and best actress.
