Cheerfully describing themselves as an “insane group of people putting on a play … about an insane group of people putting on a play,” the actors of Villa Thrilla delight in the many layers of irony and hilarity that make up this new production at Atwater Village Theatre. Chances are good audiences will feel the same way. A murder mystery masquerading as a farce, Villa Thrilla opens at a once magnificent manor house on the coast of New Jersey. A storm rages as guests arrive for what they *think* will be a “Mad, Mod Holiday Murder Mystery Party.” But the murder mystery actors act mysteriously indeed and soon the “mad” party turns very loony. Gary Lee Reed directs this new twist on the classic English murder mystery written by Anna Nicholas (Our Dark Connection, The Elegant Dinner).
